Great resources! The information you guys have provided, it really shows the importance of transportation for those with disabilities. Transportation comes up a lot in conversations with participants who have physical disabilities. For instance, the absence of accessible and reliable transportation might require accommodations such as changing the hours of service. You guys include the times of operation of business hours which is helpful. My favorite is the Wiley Express Transport, I like it reason being, it is local and a family owned and operated business. Also, the Wiley Express Transport, this is great resource for those living Dallas and surrounding areas that really needs the transportation to get them to and from personal, appointments. This is great resource for the individuals living independently, this helps them become more independent. All resources listed I can use not only as an educator, but as a friend and family member in helping guide individuals with disabilities in the right direction in gaining information for transportation.

ReplyDeleteTransportation is so important for those with disabilities, and is an important topic for transition students so that they may reach their own level of independence. Each of your resources were wonderful, I liked that your first resource, Wiley Express Transport is local. My favorite of your resources is HISD connect, though it is not local, that is a wonderful site, with tons of valuable information for parents, teachers and students who are involved in the transition process. There are rules and guidelines to be followed and many considerations to be made to successfully learn to use your local transportation services. Good Job!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely researched and know a lot about each of your resources. I know that transportation can be a HUGE issue for indidivuals with disabilities. I know several people that have a disability and still do not drive; It is extremely difficult and frustrating for thesm when they need to do every day activities, such as go to work or run errands. My favorite of your resources is the TRAX website. I think this is really great for those individuals who are simply seeking a ride to do every day, but essential, activities needed to support and provide for themselves. Another thing that I really like about this organization is that, not only do they bring people to work, but they pick them up as well. This is extremely difficult to find and it is so awesome that this service is provided, not only to people with disabilities, but anyone that needs the service. As a future educator, I would use this as a resource for any of my students, or parents of my students, who are seeking, or will be seeking, any type of transportation to work, leisure activities, schooling, etc.
